Anna began living a double life while still part of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, knowing that leaving would mean losing her family. When she was eventually discovered and disfellowshipped, the shunning from her parents and siblings was immediate. Despite the freedom she found outside the organization, the pain of losing her family remains a daily struggle, especially during holidays and family events she is no longer invited to.
